A trial for women who have recently given birth

Promoting Maternal and Infant Survival Everywhere
(PROMISE - IMPAACT 1077HS

This study is designed to help find the best ways to keep mothers healthy after receiving anti-HIV drugs to prevent their babies from being infected with HIV. There will be about 2,000 women enrolled in this study worldwide.

Inclusion Criteria:

  • 18 years old or older
  • You must be HIV positive
  • Within 28 days of giving birth to a baby
  • No anti-HIV treatments before you got pregnant
  • Received anti-HIV treatments prior to delivery
  • More than 400 T cells

You cannot have:

  • Tuberculosis within the last 30 days
  • Serious illness requiring treatment or hospitalization
  • Be breast feeding or planning to breastfeed
  • A heart defect
